The Experience
AggieTeacher.com provides comprehensive test-preparation services with a focus on the state assessment(s) required of preservice educators. Because our commitment to individual attention and in-person coaching, we are limited to the number of students that we can accept each semester.
This semester we are offering test prep for Math (EC-6 and 4-8), and Science (EC-6 and 4-8). We plan to offer Social Studies at the same grade levels beginning in the Fall of 2026.
Our services include a free pre-assessment, construction of an individualized plan for the required certification examinations, and one- on-one in person coaching.
We teach interdisciplinary topics overlapping science/math, presented in a content-focused approach (read: we are not going to drill and kill old test questions). Instead, we will learn the concepts so in depth that we can teach one another. This metacognition is what allows you to to answer any question about the the topic, no matter how the question is presented.
The Facts
According to TEA, 30 percent of examinees (EC-6 and 4-8) do not pass assessments in either math or science on their first attempt. Those numbers have held steady since the 2019-2020 school year. It is not because 30 percent of the students didn’t study. There is another factor…
The Tested Content is Misaligned
One of the biggest challenges with the TExES examinations is alignment. The tests contain content that is not taught at the appropriate grade level. For example, the Core Competencies for 4-8 include:
The beginning teacher:
6 (g) Understands how to use properties, graphs and applications of nonlinear relations including polynomial, rational, radical, absolute value, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric and piecewise functions and relations to analyze, model and solve problems
13 (f)Uses the binomial, geometric and normal distributions to solve problems
11(e) Applies concepts and properties of slope, midpoint, parallelism and distance in the coordinate plane to explore properties of geometric figures and solve problems.
Those are pretty lofty expectations of both a fifth grader, and their teacher who has not seen these concepts since high school.

Test Preparation Plans
This is a comprehensive course in one subject area (e.g. Math 4-8, Science EC-6) coached in a one-on-one, in person setting. Includes one 90-minute session each week, an individualized learning plan with mastery checks, and focused “homework” assignments for your specific needs.
A semester-long approach helps to cover all of the content, while a longer timespan assists with retention.

Need to brush up on trig identities, but need a lot of work in chemistry and physics? Add a second content area for $150/month. Must be used in conjunction with a monthly or semester package.

Step 1: Complimentary Formative Assessment- Use the scheduler to select a time for your initial consultation
Step 2: Schedule a 90-minute time during the week for your sessions. This time will be recurring every week. If you are preparing for two content areas, plan for two 90-minute sessions per week. Scheduling can be done during the assessment.
Step 3: Before your first session, your assessment will be evaluated and your individual learning plan prepared.
Step 4: During your sessions, math and science will be conceptually integrated and interactive (e.g. using Google Earth to map the geometry of a European cruise). Between sessions, you will get more targeted practice on questions as they are presented on the TExES exam.
